Hello folks! Glad to be a member and I feel honored to be a part of such a great group of people. I love to fish the coast. Wade,Boat,Offshore as long as it's salt water lets wet a hook.
I have been building for 3 years now and focus on inshore rods but I also build surf, boat, trolling, and fly rods also. NO LIMITS!
Nice piece of work there Allen. Good craftsmanship hiding everything under the grips and using the twist thread as an underwrap. Hope to see it in use some day. May have to borrow something if I come down. Dont know what to expect with specs or reds
WOW, Thanks, DOC I have goosebumps now. To receive a compliment like that from you is an honor. You do great work yourself and only hope to be as good as you someday. Come on down and We can get you a rod, a room and a box full of TEXAS Specks and Spots. You are welcome anytime!
Raymond Thanks, Glad you like it and judging from the quote your Dad must have been one heck of a guy.
Thanks Allen, I'm glad to say Dad is still around and he sure likes to "call the kettle black!" Having been raised in Idaho he's got all kinds of weird "farming/aggro/cattleman sayings that just set me ta laughing! I was raised a "city boy" away from Dad. (long story)
He's one fine rod builder too if I do say so. I taught'hm! LOL

Tell the TRUTH now Allen. You got the goose bumps after looking at the picture Scott K posted. Huh????? Good work speaks for itself Allen. Hope the take you and others up on the fishing next year.
What kind of fish would you catch in your neck of the woods? I also like salt water fishing but if i am really honest I have never truely tried fresh water fishing so maybe I am missing out on something.
Here on the Upper Texas Gulf Coast we are all about the Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Flounder are the big 3 ( Texas Slam) But we have tons of great inshore species. Mackerel, Sharks, Drum, Whiting, Sheepshead, Jack Creavelle etc. Then there are the offshore species which are a whole 'nother topic. Take a look at some of the pics in m photo gallery on my site
