Paquita

I thought Paquita should surely have a thread of her own. She is like a child to us and VERY intelligent. I tell that to people all the time and they start talking about how smart their dog is???? I know how smart dogs are...I've had many dogs...they don't talk, undo locks , can remove C-links on a chain, can remove your watch no matter what type clasp it has, can undo a claw necklice without breaking it...can undo every button on my shirt in 10 secs with her beak and tongue. and yes...very VERY demanding...it is like adopting a 3 year old primidonna child! LOL
She was hatched on Easter 1999, we bought her from a Pet shop that specialized in Macaws when she was 3 mos old. Technically, she is a Blue and Gold Macaw and small for her species...she weights around 980 grams where a big male can get up around 1200. A scarlett Macaw goes up to 1200 - 1400 grams.....and yes, she DOES bite. She could care less whether you like her or not (Strangers) just don't stick your finger out infront of her! LOL

She eats everything we do. Her bowls are filled with Pisaticous, shelled pecans, peanuts, cereal (loves fuit loops). But she also loves our scraps...shrimps, steak, hot wings! She takes chicken bones, breaks them open, and eas the marrow out of them...vet says its good for them???? One of the pics is her at Thanksgiving eating a turkey bone.
Let me know of any questions you have about her...we love her to death.

oh yeah, we also have 2 cats which I'll also post up later!

These types of critters consider me FOOD. I have been not only bitten but they act like snapping turtles with me and just hang on. Thought I was gonna lose a finger the last time one latched onto me. You are certainly a brave man.

RE: Paquita

My Mom & Step-Dad raised & bread ****atoos, parrots, & lovebirds. Our entire backyard was a big aviary! My favorites were an African Grey parrot & a Sulfur Crested ****atoo.
The goffins were really happy birds & were fun to watch as they danced around the cage or purch.

I guess you know by now Terry that parrots & macaws can get very attached to their families
and they live a very long time! My step dad's parrot was a young bird (about 5yrs) but after my step dad passed away the bird was extremely distraught and after a very short time it passed away too.

Birds can be more intelligent than dogs.

Wish I knew about feather inlays then. I would have TONS of awesome feathers!
