Well, I've been building rods about eight years now.....I started building my own rods because I was fishing tournaments on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn and wanted better and better equipment !!... I bought a bass kit from Cabelas and when it was finished I took the rod down to Weatherford Lake and caught a two pound LMBass...I figured I did something right..even though I had mile wide trims !! One thing lead to another, I retired and decided I was never going to work for another person as long as I lived...so far, I have managed to get buy on my small rod business !! Then I met Joe Graves, from Cross Plains Texas..who taught me how to make the Diamondback Rattlesnake Rod !!...One thing lead to another and I went on to embellish the rods with Crocodile, Gaboon Viper, Western and Eastern Diamondbacks..etc...plus, I went further and deal in select snakeskins and furs.
Then two years ago, I lost my oldest son James, to a massive heart attack...he was only 43 years old....that left me devestated and I shut down my rodbusiness for two years...then I met the pastor of Triple Cross Cowboy Church, Ray Lane, and he was the one who told me that I was not using the Gifts That God Gave Me, so after some soul searching and praying, I got busy and made a Diamondback Rod, as a Thank You Gift to God and Ray Lane !!
And..I haven't stopped since....
God Bless You All !! MaryLou
